Little Steps To A Happier Life
Here I've decided to created a list of little self care tips that can be distractions from a poor mindset, new found hobbies and/or a healthier direction for your life. I understand sometimes having the effort and energy to do these things or even the simplest things can take a lot but even doing one of these things can lift your spirits and help your mental well being. A lot of these are my personal coping mechanisms and if you're struggling to cope i hope these little things can help you too.
Lil' Self Care List:
- Stay hydrated - (Try drinking water more often & make yourself healthy smoothies)
- Healthy eating - (Even if its a piece of fruit or veggie for that day its always better than none)
- Pamper yourself! -(Take care of your skin, your hair, get a massage or manicure, have a bubble bath or a shower, paint your nails, brush your teeth, buy and try new products, try a new clothing style or make up look)
- Having a clean environment - (Even simply de-cluttering your room a little bit or helping out by doing a chore around the house)
- Decorate your room with things that are aesthetically pleasing and make you feel calm & happy - (Pictures of people/things you look up to, light up some candles, little house plants and flowers to look after, pretty lights, whatever you wish!)
- Music - (Listen to your favorite songs and create playlists full of music that comforts & relaxes you as well as songs that allows you to not feel alone and to feel positive)
- Write - (Let your creative side take over and write a story, or grab yourself a journal to write down all your feelings and emotions and once you've poured everything into your journal rip or burn the pages)
- Get even more creative! - (Paint, draw, grab yourself an adult colouring book)
- Read - (Read your favorite or a new chapter book, an online fanfiction or story, an interesting article)
- Research a topic that you're interest in - (whether you go googling or go to your local library, learning new things and new skills can lift your mood and self confidence)
- Go for a walk or just go outside for a while - (Nature has been proven to improve your mental well being!)
- Travel - (Grab some friends and head out to the beach, go on a roadtrip, go swimming or go on an adventure somewhere you've never been)
- Phone Detox - (Put the technology down for even just a little while)
- Spend time with your family and little ones
- Try doing some Yoga!
- Watch some movies/documentaries/TV shows
- Try setting up a better sleeping pattern
- Let the people around you know you love them
Seek Help!!
- Reach out to your most trusting friends and talk, make plans with them or even get into contact with people you havent seen or spoken to in a while.
- Headspace - https://www.headspace.org.au/
- Beyond Blue - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/get-immediate-support
- Lifeline - https://www.lifeline.org.au/
- Seek out a Therapist! This can be a big step and can even be challenging but even if you don't believe it will help just talking to someone and letting everything out can do more for you than you may realize. With the right support this can help make more sense of you thoughts and emotions.
Check out my Self Help Support Plan on my post 'Anxiety Affected' for a couple more coping methods that may also help!
